Students and Families,
Welcome back to school! I hope you all enjoyed your summer. I am thrilled to spend the upcoming school year with your children. We are going to have a year full of productive, responsible, and enjoyable learning.
These are some important things to note for the upcoming school year as well as a supply list for our classroom.
Curriculum – Our class, along with the other third grade class, will be following the same curriculum that aligns with the Common Core State Standards in math, reading, social studies and science. Our schedules will correlate, though pacing may vary due to personal class needs.
Homework – Homework will be assigned daily throughout the year. Students will be expected to read 30 minutes each night. We will also be using Lexia, Achieve 3000, and IXL computer programs.
Spelling pre-tests will be given each Monday, with the test on those words that following Friday.
Students will be expected to practice each set of words Monday-Thursday before the test.
Events – Events will be announced to you as soon as possible. This will typically be sent home Fridays in your students V.I.P. folder, unless it warrants more urgent notice, then I will send it home sooner/send out a class email.
Volunteers – Should you choose to volunteer to participate/chaperone our field trips, classroom and/or school events, please send me an email informing me of your interest. As soon as I am aware of any events, I will send out an email/printed letter and you may respond to let me know whether you are available for that particular event. I greatly appreciate all assistance with events throughout the school year!
Emergency Kits: Please send these to school with your child as soon as possible! You may purchase one, or create your own. Kits should include, non-perishable snacks, water, and first-aid supplies.
