Welcome back to a new school year! My name Mr. Mercado and I will be
your child’s Physical Education teacher this year. The purpose of this letter is to let you know what my expectations are for your child this year.
My mission in my physical education program is for all students to develop the
realization that physical fitness is a life-long investment in a healthy lifestyle. My
objective as a physical education teacher is to provide all students with the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviors needed to be physically active.
Students will benefit from these characteristics based on their experience with games and challenges. I will attempt to help all children with their learning experiences at their own rate while ensuring a safe environment. Please be aware of your child’s physical education schedule, and be sure that your
child wears sneakers and appropriate clothing on those days.
Once again, thank you for your cooperation and enjoy the new school year. If you have a questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
Students will participate in a variety of individual and team activities throughout the semester. This curriculum will provide students with the opportunity to practice and develop physical fitness, movement skills, movement knowledge, social development, and interaction. Some of the units during the semester may include but are not limited to: badminton, basketball, volleyball, fitness, flag football, soccer, dance, and ultimate frisbee.
