Message from your School Counselors

 Ms. Galvez and Ms. Nesterenko

Hello Ivy Community,

We’re sure you may have some questions or uneasy feelings about things right now, so we put some information together for you. This is only temporary and doesn’t happen often. So try to focus on the good things. Be kind. Help those that may need an extra hand and let’s all do our part. Let’s stick together as a community and take care of each other. If you would like to contact a school counselor during this time away, please don’t hesitate to email us or complete this form.

Always remember that you are amazing and we’re thinking about you!

Your School Counselors,

Ms. Galvez and Ms. Nesterenko

Counseling

Ms. Galvez will be making phone calls home to students on her caseload and any informal students who seek her for counseling support during our closure. Any student who is feeling overwhelmed, please email Ms. Galvez at galvezl@ivyacademia.com and she will arrange contacting you to set up a session.

Bullying/Cyber-Bullying

Please report any acts of bullying and cyber-bullying to stopbullying@ivyacademia.com or 818.716.0771 x1012.

Smartphone Apps

MindShift is one of the "best mental health apps designed specifically for teens and young adults with anxiety. Rather than trying to avoid anxious feelings, MindShift stresses the importance of changing how you think about anxiety". Think of this app as the cheerleader in your pocket, encouraging you to take charge of your life, ride out intense emotions, and face challenging situations.

Another is the Happify App, which is a psychologist-approved mood-training program. The Happify app is your fast-track to a good mood. Try various engaging games, activity suggestions, gratitude prompts and more to train your brain as if it were a muscle, to overcome negative thoughts. The best part? Its free!
