Ivy Academia

April New Site Update

April New site update:
Ivy purchased the former Pinecrest School Site in 2018 and we are currently in the process of obtaining approvals from the city of Los Angeles to modernize and operate as a TK-12 Charter School. Our plans are to move all of our students to the new site for the 2019/2020 school year. Like any good business we also continue to work on contingency plans in the case that one part of the school or another is not ready at the beginning of the school year.

Ivy plans to utilize most of the existing facilities and demolish some of the older buildings to increase open space and parking. Before school starts, we are planning maintenance and repairs, including ADA upgrades which are currently taking place and required by California Ed. code. Additionally parking lot improvements are being made which will address concerns shared in the DOT (Dept. of Transportation) report.

Last week Ivy received a recommendation of approval from the Neighborhood Councils Planning and Land Use Management (PLUM) Committee with proposed conditions and at this time is scheduled to head to the full neighborhood council to be voted on. Hope is that the entire council will adopt the PlUM committee’s recommendations and approve the plan. Although this was good news, at the same time LADOT (Los Angeles Dept. of Transportation) had several areas of concern that need to be addressed before the project can proceed. There are three areas of concern that Ivy is seeking advice from our traffic consultants on and are confident that these areas will cause minimum delay.

As additional information becomes available, we will continue to keep everyone informed. Be assured that one of Ivy’s highest priorities is making sure that each and every student who enters Ivy receives the best education possible. Thank you for choosing Ivy and stay tuned for further information.
