Talent Show Auditions

Come audition with a 3 minute performance next week. You can sing, you can dance, the theme is “On Broadway” so get creative. Single and group performances welcome! Sign up for a day to audition at Rooms 182 and 186.

Auditions will be held in Room 186:

Monday, May 2nd: 2:50- 3:10 pm

Tuesday, May 3rd: 2:50- 3:10pm

Wednesday, May 4 7:45- 8:15am

Thursday, May  5: 7:45- 8:15am

Please note: If your student is selected to be in the show there will be mandatory after school rehearsals at the elementary site May 9-13th. There will also be mandatory dress rehearsals at the high school campus the week of May 16-20.

Talent Show to be held May 24th from 6-8pm at Valley Circle campus.

 

 

Parent Picnic Celebrating Moms and Dads
 

You are officially invited to attend our Parent Picnic celebrating our mothers and fathers on Tuesday, May 10, 2016. The picnic will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 pm for all grades. You are welcome to come and enjoy lunch with your child(ren) while we build our Ivy Community.

What do I bring? Please bring a blanket and/or folding chairs along with lunch and/or a treat for your child(ren). If your child(ren) participate in our lunch program, they will be receiving lunch during their brunch time (TK-K: 9:50 to 10:20 am; 1st-6th grade: 10:25 to 10:55 am).  

Where do I go? Please park on the street in 2-hour parking (take note of the street signs) and enter through the walking gate by the stairs which will be opened at 11:30 am. Set up your spot on the service road by the tennis courts, leaving an aisle for a golf cart and/or people to travel on.

What happens if it there is inclement weather? The picnic will continue in the inclement weather, but it will be moved into the classrooms or Taft Hall. No folding chairs, please.

Summer plans? We will also be holding our BOGO (Buy One, Get One FREE) Book Sale during the Parent Picnic and immediately after school (12:00 to 1:45 pm). Stop by T155 to stock up on for summer reading!

May 9th to 13th

The annual Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work® Day sponsored by the Ms. Foundation for Women will be celebrated on Thursday, April 28, 2016. Your child will see first-hand the many different types of careers and jobs that are available in the workplace. By filling the attached form out, you are agreeing to take your child with you to work on Thursday, April 28, 2016. Students will be asked to bring back on artifact (a business card, catalogue, pamphlet, work completed, picture, etc…) that they can share with their class. As long as the attached form is filled out, your child will not be marked absent. We must have the attached form by April 27, 2016, or they will be marked absent. This can be a valuable and enriching experience for both parent and child. Please submit one form per child.

 

If you plan on participating in this activity, please return the attached form to your child’s homeroom teacher no later than April 27, 2016 to avoid having your child marked absent on April 28, 2016.

Parent Picnic and Class Color Day

You are officially invited to attend our Parent Picnic on Monday, March 14, 2016. The picnic will be held from 11:30 to 12:15 for 4th, 5th and 6th grades and from 12:30 to 1:15 for TK, Kinder, 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades. You are welcome to come and enjoy lunch with your child(ren) while we build our Ivy Community.

What do I bring? Please bring a blanket and/or folding chairs along with lunch and/or a treat for your child(ren). Hot lunch is available for you and your child(ren). If you would like to buy hot lunch (cheese enchiladas), please call the Ivy Elementary office (818-348-8190) before March 9th. Please contact your child(ren)’s teacher(s) to inquire if they are hosting a pot luck lunch.

What do I wear? It is class color day, so you may sport your child(ren)’s grade level color(s): TK/K- Red, 1st- Orange, 2nd- Yellow, 3rd- Green, 4th- Blue, 5th- Purple and 6th- Pink/Black. Student should wear their class color shirt with uniform bottoms or come in their uniform.

On Thursday, Ivy Elementary was visited by Marley's Mutts Dog Rescue. They presented for National E-Week about jobs that are associated with service dogs and how our students can work with dogs when they are older.

Come to school dressed in your favorite pj’s. Make sure that you wear appropriate shoes to play on the yard.

 

Tuesday, March 1st:  Reading Rodeo

Come to school dressed like a cowboy/cowgirl and gear up to hear your teachers read their favorite stories.

 

Wednesday, March 2nd: Dress Like Your Favorite Dr. Seuss Character

Come to school dressed like your favorite character from a Dr. Seuss book. Don’t forget to bring in the book! Just make sure that you are wearing appropriate shoes to play on the yard.

Thursday, March 3rd: Thing 1 and Thing 2 Day

Find a friend and dress as twins like Thing 1 and Thing 2 from Cat in the Hat.

 

Friday, March 4th: Friday Formal and Door Decorating Contest

Come to school dressed in your Friday formal uniform while Student Council judges your classroom’s door decoration.

On Wednesday, November 18th, the 6th grade Student Council visited the West Valley Food Pantry to deliver the food collected during our annual Food Drive. During our visit, the students were given a tour of the food pantry and helped to sort the food into boxes for customers to pick up for the holidays. Thank you to everyone who donated items to our Food Drive.
